Asymmetric key: A pair of keys used in asymmetric encryption. This pair consists of a public key, which may be freely distributed and used for encryption, and a private key, kept secret and used for decryption. The uniqueness of this approach is that data encrypted with one key can only be decrypted by its counterpart, providing a powerful tool for secure communications.
