Replay attack: A form of network attack where a valid data transmission is maliciously or fraudulently repeated or delayed. In this type of attack, an adversary intercepts a data transmission and retransmits it, possibly at a different time, in an attempt to gain unauthorized access or create a false trail of events. Countermeasures against replay attacks typically involve the use of unique session identifiers or time-stamps.
