CLOUD (Clarifying Lawful Overseas Use of Data) Act: A US law that allows federal law enforcement agencies, under certain circumstances, to compel U.S.-based technology companies to provide requested data stored on servers, regardless of whether the data is stored in the US or on foreign soil. This legislation aims to improve law enforcement agencies’ access to digital information for investigations and court proceedings, but it has also raised privacy and data sovereignty concerns.
