Digital Signature Algorithm (DSA): A federal Information Processing Standard for digital signatures, which was introduced by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 1991. DSA is used for the creation of a digital signature, which can be used to authenticate the identity of the sender of a message or the signer of a document and to ensure that the original content of the message or document has not been altered. Signatures generated by DSA are unique not only to the document but also to the signer, ensuring both authenticity and non-repudiation.
