Port Address Translation (PAT): A technique used in networking to enable multiple devices on a private network to share a single public IP address. It is commonly used in home and small business networks to conserve IP addresses and improve network efficiency. For example, a router using PAT can allow multiple devices on a home network to access the Internet using a single public IP address.
