Port knocking: Port knocking is a security technique that involves a series of connection attempts to a sequence of closed ports. If the correct sequence is received, the system will open a specific port or initiate some other predefined action. This “knock” acts like a secret handshake to authorize access, and because the ports are usually closed, the protected service remains invisible to port scans.
