Revocation: The act of invalidating a digital certificate or cryptographic key. Once a certificate or key is revoked, it is no longer trusted and cannot be used for secure communications. Revocation is a necessary measure in situations where a key or certificate has been compromised, or the entity it represents is no longer valid.
