Transport layer: A component of the multi-layered architecture of network protocols, such as the TCP/IP protocol suite, responsible for managing end-to-end communication and reliable data transfer between applications or services on network hosts. It ensures data is delivered without errors, in sequence, and without loss, duplication, or corruption.
