Further, (ISC)2 reports that of the currently employed cybersecurity professionals, women represent only 11 percent of the workforce. The unfilled cybersecurity jobs aren’t just a staffing issue; they’re a matter of national security, and women can help us solve the problem quickly.

    I think with a degree and some mid and a higher level certification you will be more viable as a candidate.
    There seems to be a move towards CISSP in the armed forces as well.

    I’m a woman and I’m trying to get in the door but I haven’t been able to. I hold CCNA Cyber Ops and CSA+ certifications and am working on getting more. I have a M.S. degree that is not in IT. Due to family obligations, I have worked here and there. 🙁
