Topology: The arrangement of various elements (nodes, links, etc.) in a network. The physical layout (physical topology) or logical connections (logical topology) form the backbone of the network's design. Different types of topologies, such as star, ring, mesh, bus, or tree, can impact the network's performance, reliability, and resilience to disruptions, including security incidents.

TOPT (Time-based One-Time Password): A temporary, unique passcode used for authentication that expires after a short period, typically every 30 or 60 seconds. It synchronizes with a server to enhance security in two-factor authentication systems by minimizing the risk of password-related breaches.

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO): The comprehensive assessment of all costs associated with the purchase, operation, and maintenance of a product or system over its lifespan. It includes direct costs such as purchase and installation, as well as indirect costs like maintenance, downtime, training, and end-of-life disposal. A full understanding of TCO is essential for informed decision-making, ensuring that solutions are cost-effective and sustainable in the long term.

Total risk: The combined potential impact of all identifiable and non-identifiable threats that could affect an organization's operations or assets. It takes into account both internal and external threats, vulnerabilities, and the potential impacts that could arise if these risks are realized. Effective risk management strategies aim to understand, mitigate, and, where possible, eliminate these risks.

TPM (Trusted Platform Module) Standard: A hardware-based security feature that provides a secure environment for storing cryptographic keys, passwords, and digital certificates. It is used in computers, laptops, and other devices to securely store and manage sensitive information. Examples include using TPM for secure booting, user authentication, and data encryption.

Traceroute: A network diagnostic tool that traces the path data takes from one computer to another on the internet, highlighting each hop and the time taken to get from one node to the next. Traceroute helps in identifying network bottlenecks and routing issues.
