- SOAR systems
SOAR systems: A security orchestration, automation, and response system that integrates different security tools and processes to automate and manage security operations. It is commonly used in cybersecurity to help organizations respond to and mitigate cyber threats. Examples include IBM Resilient, Demisto, and Swimlane.
- SOC 2
SOC 2: A set of standards for evaluating the security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy of a service organization's controls. It is used to assess the internal controls of a service organization. Examples of organizations that may undergo a SOC 2 audit include cloud service providers and managed IT service providers.
- SOC 3
SOC 3: A report on the service organization's controls that is intended for public use and includes a summary of the organization's controls and the independent auditor's opinion on the effectiveness of the controls. It is used to provide transparency to customers and stakeholders about the service organization's controls. Examples of organizations that may issue a SOC 3 report include cloud service providers and managed IT service providers.
- Social engineering
Social engineering: The use of psychological manipulation and deception to trick individuals into revealing sensitive information or performing actions that compromise the security of a network or system. It is commonly used by hackers to gain access to sensitive data or systems. Examples of social engineering include phishing scams, pretexting, and baiting.
- Social networks
Social networks: Online platforms that enable users to connect with each other and share content, such as text, images, and videos. They are commonly used for socializing and networking, as well as for marketing and advertising. Examples of social networks include Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
- SOCKS
SOCKS: A protocol that facilitates the routing of network packets between clients and servers through a proxy server. This protocol establishes a TCP connection that can transmit any kind of data securely, providing a layer of protection between the user and the internet. SOCKS is used where more granular control at the application layer of the network is needed, like in cases of circumventing IP-based restrictions or maintaining anonymity online.
