Confusion in Ciphertext from Cryptography: A cryptographic principle that aims to make the relationship between the key and the ciphertext as complex as possible, aiding in preventing pattern detection. Introduced by Claude Shannon, confusion is achieved through techniques like substitution, making it challenging for attackers to derive the key from the ciphertext. This increases the security of encryption by complicating potential cryptanalysis or brute-force efforts.

Connectionless: A type of network communication where data packets are sent from one device to another without establishing a dedicated connection, allowing for quick data transmission. However, packets may arrive out of order or get lost, as there is no assurance of delivery, making it less reliable than connection-oriented services.

Connection-oriented: A network communication type that establishes a dedicated connection path before data is transmitted. This ensures reliable and ordered delivery of packets from sender to receiver. Protocols like TCP use a connection-oriented approach to guarantee that data is received accurately and completely.

Console log: A record of events or activities that have occurred within an operating system or software interface. They are instrumental in monitoring system behavior and troubleshooting issues. Console logs capture details such as error messages, system status updates, user activities, or program execution details, which can be reviewed for diagnostic and auditing purposes.

Constrained Data Item (CDI): A Constrained Data Item (CDI) is a term from the Clark-Wilson security model, not a general term for data within a secure environment. It refers to any data within a secure environment that is subject to access or handling restrictions based on security policies or regulatory requirements. Proper control and oversight are necessary to ensure that CDs are not improperly altered, disclosed, or destroyed, thereby mitigating potential risks associated with sensitive or classified information.

Constraint-based/logic programming: A programming paradigm that uses logical constraints and rules to represent and solve problems, typically utilized in optimization, scheduling, planning, artificial intelligence, and expert systems, with examples including Prolog and Mercury.
