It is used in information security to verify the identity of a user. Examples include a fingerprint scan, a facial recognition scan, or a voice recognition scan. This is also known as biometric or something you are authentication.
- Typo squatting (a.k.a. URL hijacking) This involves registering a domain name that closely resembles another legitimate domain but with minor typographical errors. Malicious parties employ this tactic to trick users who mistype a web address into visiting a deceptive site, often to perpetrate scams, spread malware, or harvest personal information.
