- Uptime Institute
Uptime Institute: An organization that provides standards and certifications for data center reliability and efficiency, focusing on both physical and logical components of data center operations. Adherence to their guidelines can improve the reliability and security of data center services.
- UK Corporate Governance Code (formerly known as the Combined Code)
UK Corporate Governance Code (formerly known as the Combined Code): A framework that sets out standards for good practice in relation to board leadership, effectiveness, remuneration, and accountability in the governance of UK-listed companies. It operates under a 'comply or explain' approach, whereby companies must publicly state their compliance with the code's principles or provide a rationale for any non-compliance.
- Unauthorized disclosure
Unauthorized disclosure: The release or exposure of sensitive or protected information without obtaining proper permission. This can involve the sharing of personal data, intellectual property, trade secrets, or classified information and often results in breaches of privacy, legal consequences, or potential damages to an individual's or organization's reputation.
- Unclassified
Unclassified: Information that does not require any special protection or handling procedures. This data can be freely shared or distributed without significant risk of harm or violation of privacy. Despite its designation, unclassified information should still be managed responsibly to maintain the integrity and reputation of an organization.
- Unified Threat Management (UTM)
Unified Threat Management (UTM): A type of security solution that consolidates multiple security functions into a single system, aiming to simplify management and provide comprehensive protection. The consolidated functions may include firewall, antivirus, intrusion detection and prevention, and data loss prevention, among others.
- Uniform Resource Locator (URL)
Uniform Resource Locator (URL): A web address that specifies the location of a resource on the internet. It consists of a protocol (such as HTTP or HTTPS), a domain name, and sometimes a path to a specific file or resource. It is used to navigate websites and access online resources. Examples include www.google.com, www.facebook.com, and www.thorteaches.com.
