- RIPEMD-160 (Race Integrity Primitives Evaluation Message Digest)
RIPEMD-160 (Race Integrity Primitives Evaluation Message Digest): A cryptographic hash function used to generate a unique fixed-size signature for a message or data file. It is used in cybersecurity to verify the integrity of data and detect tampering. Examples include generating a message digest for a software update or a financial transaction.
- ROM (Read-only Memory)
ROM (Read-only Memory): A type of non-volatile storage used in computers and other electronic devices. It contains firmware that is permanently written during the manufacturing process and cannot be modified under normal computer operation. This makes ROM a secure place to store critical system instructions because they can't be altered or deleted by malicious software or user actions.
- Routing Information Protocol (RIP)
Routing Information Protocol (RIP): A distance-vector routing protocol used for smaller networks, which uses hop count as a routing metric. RIP limits the maximum number of hops to 15, beyond which the network is considered unreachable, and updates routing tables periodically, trading off between network load and routing accuracy.
- SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language)
SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language): A standard protocol used for securely exchanging authentication and authorization data between online service providers and identity providers. It is used in web security to enable single sign-on (SSO) and provide users with access to multiple services using a single set of credentials. Examples of SAML include using SAML to enable SSO for a company's internal web applications or using SAML to enable SSO for a customer's online account with a service provider.
- Schema
Schema: A structured framework or blueprint describing how data is organized and managed within a database. It defines the tables, fields, relationships, constraints, and other elements of a database, acting as a roadmap for how data is stored and accessed. Schemas are critical for maintaining data integrity, enabling efficient data retrieval and modification, and ensuring that the database structure supports the needs of the applications that interact with it.
- Scrum
Scrum: A framework for implementing agile software development. Scrum provides a structured yet flexible set of principles, practices, roles, and ceremonies that enable teams to work collaboratively to manage work and produce deliverables in short cycles known as sprints. Central to Scrum is the idea of iterative and incremental development, where requirements and solutions evolve through collaborative effort. Key roles in Scrum include the Product Owner, Scrum Master, and Development Team. Scrum enables organizations to adapt to changing requirements, prioritize work effectively, and deliver high-quality products that meet user needs. It is widely used in software development and increasingly applied in other domains requiring a flexible project management approach.
